Were the Walls and City of Babylon Destroyed When Media Persia Took the Kingdom?

No, they were not. The walls and city remained in good condition for many years. It was after Daniel's death that they were destroyed. They were not destroyed all at once. The walls and city were taken down little by little over a period of time. The Scripture tells us that Babylon will never be rebuilt (Isa. 13: 21 - 22). (See also Isa. 13: 1, 17, 19 - 20.). The Medes and Persians destroyed the army of Babylon, but not the walls and city. The Medes entered the city through the floodgates and overran the city. Daniel lived in the city of Babylon for many years and wrote many Scriptures. (Read Daniel chapter 5. See also Daniel 7: 1 - 5, 8: 1, 20, 9: 1 - 2, 10: 1, 11: 1 - 2. NKJV).
