What About Matthew 24: 27?

When the Second Coming of Christ takes place (Rev. 19: 11), does Jesus return to earth with the speed of lightning (Matt. 24: 27), the speed of thought? Yes! The Lord will travel from Heaven (the third heaven) to the sky in a moment's time. But not coming "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye..." as I Corinthians 15: 52 describes. That verse applies to the Rapture only.

Matthew 24: 27 is referring to the Second Advent (the Second Coming, the Revelation).

Jesus is speaking and He said,
"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

When Jesus returns to the sky (the first heaven) everyone on earth will see Him at the same time no matter what side of the world he or she is on. Revelation 1: 7 says, "...every eye shall see Him...". (Read also Phil. 2: 5 - 9, 10 - 11.). This will take a supernatural act on the Lord's part. Paul speaks about the wicked [one] (the Antichrist) and tells us that the Lord will destroy him "...with the brightness of His coming:" (II Thes. 2: 8). The Lord's coming will be quite visible to every being. So, I believe, the part where it says, " the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west...", which is mentioned in the above passage as the Lord returns to earth, is associated with how every person on earth will see Jesus as He descends from the sky (some 200 miles above the earth) after entering earth's atmosphere, the first heaven. For the Lord only comes in a moment's time (at the speed of thought) as far as the sky. Then He descends reasonably slow compared to what He did at the first part (the beginning) of His return.

[Note: When Jesus comes for us (the believers) in the Rapture, the whole event, including the resurrection, will happen "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye...". Every New Testament Christian, who is the Bride of Christ, will be taken to Heaven that fast. However, all believers who have previously been taken to Heaven will return with Jesus to earth when He comes back in the Revelation.].

It would probably only take a moment of time for the lightning to flash around the globe (world). In a moment's time the Lord can come from Heaven to the earth (the sky). But remember this, Jesus' feet does not touch the earth (the Mount of Olives) right away when He returns. His feet will only stand on the earth on the same day of His return but after certain events take place. Those events will not take very long to fulfill (Rev. 19: 11, 14, 19, 20, 21). [Some of Revelation 19 will have previously been fulfilled before the Lord returns to earth. The announcement that Babylon (Rome) had been judged and destroyed (Rev. 19: 1 - 3, 4 - 5); the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19: 6 - 9); Revelation 19: 15, I believe, refers to what will happen in Rev. 19: 21 as well as what the Lord Jesus Christ will do during the 1000 year reign of Christ, the millennium (Rev. 20: 6); the call for the fowls (birds) to come to Israel and Jerusalem (Rev. 19: 17 - 18); the enemy soldiers will have previously gathered together at Armageddon, in Israel (in the valley of Jezreel, the valley of Megiddo). Then they will make their way up to Jerusalem (Rev. 19: 19) to fight in The War Against Jerusalem. Those enemy soldiers will be from all nations of the world. (See also Rev. 16: 12 - 16, Zech. 14: 1 - 2, 3, Joel 3: 1 - 2, 9 - 12, 14 - 16.). Those things will take place then Jesus will return from Heaven to the earth (the sky).].

Once Jesus leaves Heaven and comes to the earth (the sky) riding His white horse (Rev. 19: 11, 14) the scene will begin to unfold slowly. As He descends slowly from the sky to the earth four main events will happen. First, the kings of the earth and their armies (the enemy soldiers from all nations) will be fighting the Jews (Israelites) (Rev. 19: 19) as Jesus descends toward the earth riding on His white horse. The War Against Jerusalem will have already started. It will be in progress before Jesus comes back to earth. Secondly, the first beast of Revelation 13, the Antichrist, and also the second beast of the same passage (Scripture), the false prophet, will be taken and thrown into the Lake of Fire somewhere out in space, in the second heaven, far beyond our solar system which will be destroyed some day (II Pet. 3: 7, 10, 12, Rev. 20: 11, 21: 1).

"And then shall that Wicked [one] (the Antichrist) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming:" (II Thes. 2: 8)

Thirdly, Jesus will speak the word and destroy the remnant (rest) of the enemy soldiers who came against Israel (the Jews, Israelites), and did not die in the battle, The War Against Jerusalem, up to that point, the time of Jesus' return (Rev. 19: 11). The Fourth is after The War Against Jerusalem is over and after Revelation 19: 21 is fulfilled, Jesus will dismount His horse. He will then descend to the Mount of Olives to the very same spot where His feet last stood when He was here on earth, before ascending up into Heaven to be seated at the right hand of His Father (Heb. 1: 3).

"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matt. 24: 27)

"Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds (races) of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen." (Rev. 1: 7)
