Consider These Other Events That Take Place in Heaven

The four and twenty elders, who are referred to in Revelation 5: 8, are the only ones who are qualified to sing that song of redemption. After those four and twenty elders are finished singing that song, then John begins to write about another scene that takes place in Heaven. Do not use the word "saying" in Revelation 5: 12 to go back to verses 8, 9, 10. They are two different scenes. Those angels' voices, (etc..., see also NASB), which are referred to in Revelation 5: 11, are not responding to the words that the four and twenty elders were saying (singing) as the words of that song in Revelation 5: 9 - 10. But they are preparing to speak in verse 12. They are not singing in Revelation 5: 12. They are speaking those words. Read the words that they (the angels, the beasts/the four beasts, Living Creatures), and the four and twenty elders are "...saying..." in Revelation 5: 12, "...Worthy is the Lamb (that's Jesus) that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing." (Rev. 5: 12).

Then, after that has taken place, John heard every creature in Heaven and on the earth begin to say, "Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever." (Rev. 5: 13).

Then, and not before that, the four beasts (Living Creatures) said, "...Amen...." (Rev. 5: 14). Then "...the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped Him that liveth for ever and ever." (Rev. 5: 14).

Did you notice that there are five different settings that take place in Revelation 5: 9 - 14? The first one is in verses 9 and 10: the four and twenty elders are singing the song of redemption, etc...; The second setting is in 11 - 12: the angels, the four beasts (Living Creatures), and the four and twenty elders will speak the words in Revelation 5: 12; The third setting is in verse 13: every creature that is in Heaven, and that is on the earth, etc... John heard saying, "Blessing, and honor, and glory..."; And the fourth setting is found in Revelation chapter 5, verse 14: the beasts (the four beasts, Living Creatures, see Rev. 4: 6 - 9, Ezek. chapter 1) said, "...Amen...."; The fifth and last setting is also found in Revelation chapter 5, verse 14: the four and twenty elders (these are the "elders" of Rev. 4: 4, 5: 8 and 11) falling down before God, the One who lives forever and ever. These are those five different settings.

The four and twenty elders will be singing that song about how they were redeemed by Jesus' blood. Only human beings can sing that song, and I am saying that the four and twenty elders are the only ones who qualify to sing it. All the various things that will take place in Revelation 4 and 5 (and chapters 6 - 22 also) are special events that will one day happen. John saw those things in a vision:

  1. The Church in Heaven,
  2. the four and twenty elders with their crowns on their heads,
  3. the little book,
  4. the four and twenty elders singing in Heaven, and
  5. those things that will take place in Revelation 5: 11 - 14.

John also saw the 7 seals, etc..., and a whole lot of things between.

No matter how one looks at it, the four and twenty elders represent the Church in Heaven. The number 24 is symbolic.
