Where Does the Day of the Lord Fit Into the Book of Revelation?

"And I (John) saw heaven opened,..." (Rev. 19: 11)

This is the Revelation or Second Coming of Christ.

"...and behold a white horse; and He (that's Jesus) that sat upon him (the horse) was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war."
"His eyes (the eyes of Christ) were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself."
"And He (Jesus) was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood (red in color): and His name was called The Word of God." (Rev. 19: 11 - 13)

That is Jesus. He is the living Word. He is God! (God the Son) (See John 1: 1, 14, I John 1: 1 - 3, 5: 7, II Pet. 1: 16.).

"And the armies which were in heaven followed Him (Jesus) upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean." (Rev. 19: 14)

Those who will receive Jesus as their own personal Lord and Savior will return with Him on that day when He comes back to earth in the Revelation/Second Coming. (See Zech. 14: 4 - 5, Acts 1: 11.). We will be following the Lord on heavenly white horses; and we will be wearing garments which will be white and clean.

"And out of His (Jesus') mouth goeth a sharp sword (Heb. 4: 12), that with it (the sharp sword, His word) He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress (See Joel 3: 13, Rev. 14: 17 - 20.) of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."
"And He (Jesus) hath (has) on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Rev. 19: 16)
"And I (John) saw an angel standing in the sun;..." (Rev. 19: 15 - 17)

That would be between heaven and earth with the sun behind him.

"...and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great day of God;" (Rev. 19: 17) (See also Rev. 16: 14, 16, 19: 21.).

"That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them (the riders) that sat on them (the horses), and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great."
"And I (John) saw the beast (Antichrist), and the kings of the earth (Rev. 17: 12 - 14, 17 - 18), and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him (that's Jesus) that sat on the horse, and against His army."
"And the beast (Antichrist) was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought (did) miracles before him, with which he (the false prophet) deceived them that received the mark of the beast (666), and them that worshipped his image. These both (the Antichrist and the false prophet) were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Rev. 19: 18 - 20)

"And the remnant..." (Rev. 19: 21)

That would be all of the enemy soldiers who have not yet died in this battle, The War Against Jerusalem, up to this point, which is the last day of The War Against Jerusalem.

"...were slain with the sword of Him (Jesus, and His Word) that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth (Heb. 4: 12): and all the fowls were filled with their flesh." (Rev. 19: 21) (Read also Rev. 19: 14 - 20.).

Zechariah 12: 14 tells us what will happen as Jesus returns to earth, seated upon His white horse, and speaks the word.

Thus the Day of the Lord that Joel and Zechariah refer to will be fulfilled. It will take place on the same day that Jesus comes back to earth (Rev. 19: 11) and destroys those enemy soldiers who are from all the nations of the world. (Read Rev. 16: 14, Joel 3: 2, Zech. 14: 2.). (Here are some chapters and verses to show you where the enemy soldiers are destroyed. Read Rev. 19: 15, 21. See also Zech. 14: 3, Joel 3: 16.).

The Revelation/Second Coming will take place on that same day, the last day of The War Against Jerusalem. On that same day, the day of Jesus' return, the Day of the Lord will take place, (as described by in Joel 3: 14, 16 and Zechariah 14: 3, 12). The Day of the Lord will take place on the last day of The War Against Jerusalem when Jesus fights those enemy soldiers who are from all nations. All of those things that are referred to in Revelation 14: 19 - 20, 19: 11 - 14, 15 - 21, will also happen on that same day when Jesus comes back to earth. (See also Joel 3: 13, Rev. 14: 17 - 18, 19 - 20.). Not only that, those things which are described in Zechariah 14: 3 - 11, Joel 3: 16 - 18, will take place on that day also. (Read also Zech. 14: 16 - 21, Joel 3: 19 - 21.). You can read the sequence of those things that will happen on the same day that Jesus comes back to earth here.

Jesus' fighting and destroying those enemy soldiers is the Day of the Lord. Both Joel and Zechariah refer to this Day of the Lord (Joel 3: 14, Zech. 14: 1). It will take place on the last day of The War Against Jerusalem (Rev. 19: 15, 17 - 18, 19, 21), and on the same day that Jesus returns to earth. (See Rev. 19: 11, Joel 3: 16, Zech. 14: 4 - 5.). So, The War Against Jerusalem (the last day of it), the Second Coming of Christ, and the Day of the Lord are connected to each other because they will all take place on the same day. Not the whole battle, but the last day of it will happen on the same day as the other two events do.

There is no way that Jesus is going to allow The War Against Jerusalem to continue after He returns to earth and sets up His kingdom (Matt. 25: 34), which begins on that same day (Matt. 25: 31). It is said that the saints (elect, sheep) who are alive and gathered together by the angels at the time of Jesus' return (Matt. 24: 30 - 31, 25: 31 - 33) are to enter the kingdom (Matt. 25: 34). The Millennium (the 1000 year reign of Christ) does begin on the same day that Jesus comes back to earth to reign. (Read Rev. 19: 11, Matt. 25: 31.). (Note: Jesus' feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives as soon as Revelation 19: 21 is completed. Read Acts 1: 11, Zechariah 14: 4 - 5. The first part of Matthew 25: 31 is referring to the Second Coming of Christ in Revelation 19: 11. The latter part of Matthew 25: 31 has to do with Jesus sitting on the throne in Jerusalem. That is what the Lord will do when He returns to earth after His feet touch down on the Mount of Olives. Then Matthew 25: 32 - 46 will take place as Jesus is seated on His throne.).

By the way, there is another Day of the Lord that is recorded in the Old Testament, in Obadiah chapter 1. This Day of the Lord was fulfilled about 2500 years ago when Edom/Mount Seir was still in existence. It was prophesied that the people of Edom, the Edomites, would be destroyed and that their land would become desolate. Read Ezekiel chapter 35. See also Ezekiel 36: 1 - 5. All of Idumea was made desolate at that time as well. You can read also Jeremiah 49: 7 - 22. Jeremiah tells us about Bozrah and how it would become desolate at the time of the fulfillment of this prophecy also. See also "The Day (day) of the Lord" and "The Day of the Lord of Obadiah".
